I learned from my grandmother, a professional seamstress and my mother. To keep it all in the family, my father worked in a sewing machine business and could sew, as well as repair and maintain the machines. Needless to say, I learned my craft well from all three. I have been sewing for over 40 years and have made many items, such as clothing, wedding dresses, suits, bib overalls, slacks, christening garments, curtains, drapes, quilts, and many other garments and accessories. CheryLynn Designs came into being as a result of my love of sewing and desire to creat high-quality purses, handbags and totes, and my partners strong business knowledge and experience. Cheryl has over 20 years of hands on business ownership plus 5 years of retail management. Since, Cheryl suffers from osteoartheritis and has experienced joint replacement on her shoulder and disk fusion on her back, she has been instructed to either stop carrying hand and shoulder bags completely or use something extremely light weight. She found it difficult to find such a bag in a classy style. When I talked to her about designing handbags, I thought it would be a wonderful way to get what she needed. What could be lighter than a totally cloth bag! We felt we could create beautiful, individual handcrafted purses, handbags and totes at reasonable prices for you, our customer and also help those who suffer with joint pain.
